Concept

Contemporary Moves Advanced is an exclusive study group oriented for experienced dancers/movers. A process oriented learning experience that is centred around contemporary dance and fluid acrobatics. Cultivating body intelligence and physical expression as well as advanced technical skills are the core of the program.

The year-long program is a professional training that is open for any person regardless of age. A solid background in the field of dance or embodiment is required.

The program aims to help each individual to expand the boundaries of their technical and creative skills and develop their physical intelligence and artistic skills in contemporary dance. The unique blend of different teaching modalities and pedagogical approaches within the Movement Lab will enable each student to gain extensive understanding and experience in the following: contemporary dance, fluid acrobatics, dance fitness and movement based exploration methods.

Besides that, the program supports cultivation of presence through touch and the development of non-verbal communication skills - a process that provides a robust foundation necessary for future engagements in the field of embodiment and touch based healing modalities.

The Program’s Structure

The program constitutes two core modules that are being taught 1.5 hours per week and lasts for 36 weeks. The core modules are built as a gradual process of accumulation of knowledge and skills.

Together the two modules are an in-depth process oriented learning experience.

Lawrence Ritchie

By the age of 12 Lawrence started to regularly attend modern wushu classes. Inspired by its very expressive movements he soon discovered the then emerging underground sport of martial-arts-tricking. Many years of intensive training followed, where he gained recognition as a tricking athlete and competitor all around Europe. In the past years Lawrence studied different fields of art where he eventually discovered his passion for contemporary dance. Currently he fuses different styles into a multi-faceted training that is grounded in sustainability and mindfulness.
